I bought this toaster because the internet said the extra-wide slots actually fit bagels. That felt like a bold claim.
Product:
Hamilton Beach Extra Wide Long Slot 2 Slice Toaster
Time Lived With:
1 Year
Here's what actually happened:
The wide slots actually do fit bagels, which was the entire reason I bought it. Toast comes out evenly most of the time, and it handles thicker bread without a problem.
Durability Check:
After months of regular use, it still works the same as day one. No uneven heating, and nothing has broken.
What Changed Over Time:
The browning control can be a little inconsistent. Not a big issue, nothing burns but sometimes the same setting gives slightly different results (or my husband is secretly pranking me).
My Take:
It fits on the counter without looking ridiculous, the slots actually fit bagels, and the handle stays solid. The plug being on the opposite side is mildly confusing, but not a dealbreaker. If you want a simple toaster that works, it's fine. If you want a boujie toaster experience, this probably isn't it.
Do the wide slots actually fit bagels?
Yes. That part is not a lie.
Is the browning control accurate?
Mostly. It works, but sometimes the same setting gives a slightly different toast.
Does it take up a lot of counter space?
No. It fits on a normal counter without looking bulky.
Is it worth upgrading from a basic toaster?
If you toast bagels or thick bread often, the wide slots make it easier.
